As IODE Canada celebrates its 125th Anniversary as Canada's 2nd oldest women's organization, we are hosting a "book drive" specifically for children ages 3 months - 6 years with the goal of collecting 125 "new and gently used" books.  All the books will be donated to the Day Nursery Centre locations in the North End, West End, and City Center of Winnipeg and will include handmade fabric book bags.

How can I help?

Check with your friends, family and neighbours as they may be able to help.  Thrift stores often have a great selection of children's books in good condition.  

Where do I take the books?

Books may be brought to the September business meeting held at the Scandinavian Centre on Saturday, September 13, 2025.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, please email the Chapter to arrange for the pick up of books you have collected. 

The reward:

A display of the books and book bags will be featured at the Scholarship reception Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Update:

The count below shows we will likely exceed our goal of 125 books, but don't let this stop you from donating more new and like-new books! More books means each child can receive more than one book in their book bag. If we amend our goal to three books per child, then lets go for 375 books. Imagine the delight!
